This week we welcome one of today’s leading voices in the field of healing-centered education, Dr. Angel Acosta, Ed.D. With unique experience and innovative tools, Dr. Acosta offers insights into the work of community healing and group process. We will discuss practical methods of collective healing including breathwork, mindfulness and contemplative practices. We will explore connections between social justice work, community trauma healing, and modern public health worldwide.

Dr. Angel Acosta

Dr. Angel Acosta is a celebrated luminary with decades of experience in the fields of healing-centered education, mindfulness, and social justice. Dr. Acosta’s work develops educational leadership and empowers communities with innovative tools for collective healing and wellness. He integrates practices of mindfulness and contemplation to meet challenges of collective trauma, structural inequality and other crucial public health issues.

Dr. Acosta’s career projects include close to a decade of work as a program director for the national nonprofit CFES Brilliant Pathways. He developed innovative program content for the 400 Years of Inequality Project. Dr. Acosta has worked with the Center for Contemplative Mind in Society. He is currently the Director of the Garrison Institute’s Fellowship Program, and the Creative Director at the NYC Healing Collective. Dr. Acosta works as a teacher, mentor, and consultant with students, young people and professionals worldwide.

Menpa Phuntsog Wangmo

Menpa Phuntsog Wangmo is a practitioner of Traditional Tibetan Medicine, with over 30 years of experience in clinical practice as well as teaching. She received her advanced degree from the Lhasa University School of Traditional Medicine

Menpa Wangmo is the Director of the Shang Shung Institute School of Tibetan Medicine. She teaches Tibetan Medicine around the world, developing programs and teaching students in the USA, Spain, Italy, Russia, and many places.

Menpa Phuntsog Wangmo is the Co-Founder of the American Tibetan Medical Association, ATMA, Tibetan Medicine professional organization.
