Our webinar this week features two of the early pioneers of Tibetan Medicine here in the United States. These two inspiring and dedicated women have worked for decades to share the teachings of traditional Tibetan Medicine with us. Menpa Yangdron Kalsang, DAOM is the founder of the Kunde Institute in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our webinar Host, Menpa Phuntsog Wangmo is the Director and Head Instructor of the Shang Shung Institute School of Tibetan Medicine. Dr. Yangdron Kalsang

DAOM is a Menpa Practitioner of Tibetan Medicine, California Licensed Acupuncturist (Lac), and Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM). She earned the Tibetan Medicine degree from the Tibetan Medical University in Lhasa, Tibet, and her Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University, Graduate School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in Santa Cruz, California. Dr. Kalsang went on to receive her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Five Branches University, San Jose, California, in 2018.

Dr. Kalsang is a founding member and current faculty member of the Shang Shung Institute, School of Tibetan Medicine in Conway, Massachusetts as well as one of the original curriculum developers and consultants in the planning of their certificate program. For the past few years, she has been teaching Tibetan Medical courses at her alma mater, the Five Branches University. Yangdron Kalzang and the Kunde Institute serve as an educational resource for the University of California at San Francisco and Stanford University medical students and faculty and many Buddhist centers in the Bay Area.

Dr. Kalsang teaches and lectures at many events and venues around the country. With a strong commitment to better health and education, Yangdron Kalzang provides compassionate and effective healing services to the whole community. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and their two children.

Menpa Phuntsog Wangmo

Menpa Phuntsog Wangmo is a practitioner of Traditional Tibetan Medicine, with over 30 years of experience in clinical practice as well as teaching. She received her advanced degree from the Lhasa University School of Traditional Medicine

Menpa Wangmo is the Director of the Shang Shung Institute School of Tibetan Medicine. She teaches Tibetan Medicine around the world, developing programs and teaching students in the USA, Spain, Italy, Russia, and many places.

Menpa Phuntsog Wangmo is the Co-Founder of the American Tibetan Medical Association, ATMA, Tibetan Medicine professional organization.
